Six animated films since Toy Story 3’s 2010 pioneering performance in June have each generated more than $1 billion in a similar release period. Achieving that would be a huge step for Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, but it’s probably not going to happen. THE MARVELS: $950 MILLION
It will be interesting to watch how much The Marvels earns in 2023 at the box office. In 2019, Captain Marvel broke box office records in the months before Avengers: Endgame, earning $1.1 billion. Audiences responded warmly with their wallets to the MCU’s first female-led superhero movie, despite the film’s mixed reviews and the review-bombing by trolls on Rotten Tomatoes.
