Unleashing the excitement! Marvel studios movie trailers are here. Get ready for a sneak peek at the biggest blockbuster hits. Don’t miss out!
The major Hollywood studios are taking Super Bowl LVII commercials seriously, with this year’s domestic box office projected to rise to $9 billion.
As Super Bowl LVII approaches, Marvel Studios has revealed the movie trailers that will be shown and their plans for the big game night.
Many people look forward to the NFL championship each year for the nail-biting action on the field, but others watch for the premiere of the latest Marvel, DC, Star Wars, and other movie trailers during the commercial breaks.
Super Bowl commercials have become the standard venue for previews of upcoming Hollywood productions. Two years ago, Marvel studios used the Super Bowl to introduce the Disney+ era of the MCU, and last year, fans got a new look at Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
I wonder what Kevin Feige and company have cooked up for the Super Bowl this year. And would it be better than anything that’s come before?
SUPER BOWL LVII MARVEL MOVIE PREMIERE
Ads for three upcoming MCU movies, among others, will air during the Super Bowl.
Ads for Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will air during Super Bowl LVII, as reported by Deadline.
Although the Guardians of the Galaxy spot will most likely be a brand new trailer, Quantum Mania’s may simply be part of a Heineken cross-promotion that has been running in anticipation of the film.
Similarly, Brie Larson’s Captain Marvel sequel, The marvel, may “possibly” get a spot during the big game, as reported by Deadline.
After posting about her work on the film, Brie Larson’s Spanish dub actress sparked rumours of an impending sneak peek, and fans have been eagerly anticipating the first trailer/spot for The marvel ever since.
The Little Mermaid, Elemental from Pixar, and maybe even Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny will all have commercials during the big game.
marvel Studios’ Secret Invasion, a series for Disney+ that was expected to premiere in May, will not be included.
JUST WHAT DO SUPER BOWL TRAILERS ACTUALLY INCLUDE?
While this report does answer some questions as to what will and won’t be showing up from marvel Studios at Super Bowl LVII, some things remain unclear.
The biggest of these sticking points is The marvel movies Brie Larson and Iman Vellani’s MCU blockbuster feels like a natural fit for an occasion such as this, but nothing has been officially confirmed.
Even if audiences get a first look at the film during the game, does that mean a full-length trailer will immediately drop online as well? If not, The marvel movies could be relegated to a 30-second TV spot with an extended look coming at a later date.
The film has already screened a trailer of sorts at D23 last Fall, so if marvel Studios were to want to put something out, they seem to have at least the bones of a teaser put together.
As for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, this will almost surely be a second full look at the film. Back in December, fans got the first trailer for this intergalactic epic, and with the film’s May release date close on the horizon, a second trailer would make perfect sense for the Super Bowl.
When it comes to Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania, the film comes out only five days after the big game, so another trailer is unlikely to debut here. Paul Rudd’s size-shifting Marvel hero has been the subject of a number of Heineken ads as of late, so when Ant-Man does inevitably show up it will likely have more to do with pulling pints than pulling punches.
Lastly, it is genuinely shocking to not see Samuel L. Jackson’s Secret Invasion on this list. The series is the next MCU Disney+ project on the docket, and there likely will not be another opportunity with this many eyes on it before its incoming debut.
While this is likely not an indication of the show getting pushed or anything, it is something fans should keep in the back of their mind as they are watching the game.
Super Bowl LVII between the Philidelphia Eagles and Kansas City Chiefs is set to kick off on Sunday, February 12 at 3:30 pm from Glendale, Arizona.
Even Paramount has a long association with the Super Bowl. Scream VI (March 10), Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves (March 31), and Transformers: Rise of the Beasts (June 1) are rumoured to be getting theatre release dates this year (June 9). Here’s a trailer for Mission: Impossible: Dead Reckoning, Part 1 that nobody saw coming (July 14). During Super Bowl 2018, Paramount aired a commercial for Mission: Impossible — Fallout.
Amazon/MGM and Lionsgate also declined to comment on their Super Bowl plans, as did the aforementioned studios. It’s possible that neither will show up, though; Amazon promoted The Hobbit last year and MGM will release No Time to Die in 2020, so it’s not out of the question that they’ll both have ads. Accordingly, it is not out of the question that Creed III (March 3) from United Artists Releasing or John Wick: Chapter 4 (March 24) from Lionsgate will make waves. There was a Super Bowl 2017 commercial for John Wick: Chapter 2 by the former company.
This year’s Super Bowl will also be Sony’s last chance to be a part of the big game. Life, starring Ryan Reynolds and Jake Gyllenhaal, was the last science fiction film to fall in the Big Game rankings.
