As Phase 5 draws to a close, several new Marvel characters are transitioning from comic books to film and television in 2023.

Disney Plus has had its busiest Phase 4 yet, bringing in a variety of new characters and packing in a huge amount of content in a short amount of time.

In most cases, this short period was harmful. Many of his adventures have received lukewarm reviews, with fans openly criticizing Marvel for putting quantity over quality. Even some well-known titles were missing.

However, characters such as Moon Knight and Ms. Marvel and Shang Chi have already established themselves as household names among fans. They won’t be the new kids on the block anymore.

Here’s a breakdown of the Marvel characters who will debut in the MCU in 2023.

8. THE HOOD (ANTHONY RAMOS)

Anthony Ramos plays The Hood, a mystical villain and adversary in the upcoming Ironheart series. The Hood was a petty thief before having a  devastating encounter with a Nishanti demon that gave him superpowers. Later, the man rose to prominence in the New York criminal underground and even founded his own crime syndicate.

His involvement in the battle between magic and technology depicted in Ironheart’s synopsis sets the framework for the character’s important role in the project. He also gained the power of invisibility and levitation from an encounter with a demon.

7. ADAM WARLOCK (WILL POULTER)

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 previewed the character, fans knew Adam Warlock was entering the Marvel Cinematic Universe. However, the excitement around the character hasn’t died down as he’s been a talking point among fans for a while now.

A celestial creature known as Warlock was artificially produced and genetically altered to be the ideal continuation of humanity. His creator’s plans are revealed to him in the comics, and he rebels against them, eventually becoming a member of the Guardians of the Galaxy team.

6. THE HIGH EVOLUTIONARY (CHUKWUDI IWUJI)

Not only will Lylla appear in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, but The High Evolutionary will also make an appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The High Evolutionary, who is portrayed by Chukwudi Iwuji and is also known as Herbert Edgar Wyndham, is a crazy scientist who seeks to create the ideal developed person by fusing human and animal DNA.

He is an academic prodigy who masters several disciplines, including biology, physics, computer science, and even the subatomic manipulation of reality. In this final Team Expedition, the villain would have a strong bond with one of the main bodyguards.

With films reportedly more mature than their predecessors, the Guardians of the Galaxy trilogy will come to an end this year as moviegoers prepare to bid farewell to this version of the popular team.

The MCU finally brings Rocket’s love object Lyra, played by the Queen of pop music, Lady Gaga.

Lylla is a sentient otter and heir to the toy-making dynasty of the Mayhem Makaniks on the planet Halfworld in the comics. She is expected to play an important role in the movie as it will show much of Rocket’s tragic past.

4. THE LEADER OF THE SKRULL REBELS, GRAVIK (KINGSLEY BEN ADAIR)

Fans first saw Kingsley Ben Adeel as the main antagonist in the highly anticipated drama Secret Invasion in September 2022.

Similar to Coleman’s portrayal of Sonya, Gravik is a new character who has never appeared in Marvel Comics, so it’s hard to tell where he fits in the show or the larger universe. However, based on the single shot in the teaser, Looks like he’s trying to conquer Earth with a bunch of tricky shapeshifters.

3. SPECIAL AGENT SONYA WALSWORTH (OLIVIA COLMAN)

Fans will learn the importance of the legacy of the Falsworth name in Marvel Comics, as several members of the Falsworth family have portrayed the patriotic hero Union Jack. However, Sonya appears to be a new character only to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Few details are available about this new character, but many believe he is related to James Montgomery Falsworth, the Howling Commando who fought alongside Captain America in World War II. She will be making her acting debut in the Disney+ series Secret Invasion, starring Olivia Colman.

2. MODOK (COREY STOLL)

After making his comic book debut in Tales of Suspense #93–94 in 1967, MODOK quickly established himself as Captain America’s implacable enemy, despising the way Cap displayed “physical perfection”.

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Enemy of Quantumania was said to be played solely by actor Corey Stoll, but we got our first glimpse of the character in a November 2022 entry. MODOCK’s actual role in the events of Quantumania is still unknown, but a fan idea claims he could be In the famous Kang’s Chair, which Scott and his allies can command. Floating in the quantum realm.

1. KANG THE CONQUEROR (JONATHAN MAJORS)

Perhaps one of the most anticipated characters on this list is Kang the Conqueror. Major previously appeared in the 2021 Loki season finale as He-Who-Remains, and will now be the main enemy in the upcoming movie, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.

While it’s known that Kang will play a much bigger role in the future, one that could be equal to the legendary purple giant Thanos, this first appearance was just a taste of things to come.
